MEDIA RELEASE For Immediate Release – May, 2010 Honouring the past by celebrating the future Schneider Male Chorus recognizes its Schneider Family Roots WATERLOO REGION – A special day of recognition to the family that both led to the creation of, and supported the existence of the Schneider Male Chorus takes place on Sunday, May 16 at 3 p.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 248 Westmount Road East in Kitchener. The nationally-recognized, award-winning Schneider Male Chorus will be welcoming the Silver Birch Project for a Spring Concert to help celebrate the more than seven decades of support from the Schneider Family, who will be the honoured guests for this unprecedented performance. Founded in 1939, the Schneider Male Chorus has performed in Canada, United States, Bermuda and Europe. Now entering its 71st season, the Schneider Male Chorus sprung out of a gathering at a local picnic for employees of the J.M. Schneider Meat Packing Co. in 1938. The Schneider Male Chorus performs a wide variety of chamber music with a mix of old and new sounds combining the youthful exuberance of the under 30-something members with the stately presence of its distinguished senior members – for a combined total of nearly 500 years experience! The history, reflection, and soulfully soothing sounds of the Schneider Male Chorus allows its listeners to forget the often chaotic, hectic 21st century lifestyle for a few hours – and concert attendees will only be further entranced by the elegantly acclaimed talents of the Silver Birch Project. This trio, comprised of Angela Brubacher, Brandon Leis, and Benjamin Bolt-Martin all have local connections – underscoring the importance that Waterloo Region does, indeed, cultivate artistic talent and produces hidden gems all in a moment’s notice. Tickets are $20 and include a reception to follow sponsored by Nougat Café Bistro. For tickets, please call 519-804-3055 or email for tickets
